This program offers students an opportunity to live and study in the heart of Paris. Courses, taught in English, are available from AUP's regular course offerings in most Arts & Sciences disciplines. Students are encouraged to take an intensive French language course for greater cultural understanding and immersion. Extra curricular activities and field trips are also available through AUP's International Office at reasonable prices.
Students may choose from AUP's entire catalog. Courses taken abroad may satisfy college and departmental core requirements. Students should consult with their advisor to discuss the specific requirements that may be satisfied abroad.
Located in the heart of Paris, quite literally in the shadows of the Eiffel Tower, AUP provides easy access to the intellectual and cultural riches of Paris. Whether dining at a quaint cafe along one of Paris's famous broad avenues, visiting one of the hundreds of museums, or engaging in philosophical discussions with other AUP students and faculty, there is always something exciting and new to explore everyday.
The American University of Paris is distinguished by a rare synthesis: it offers an American liberal arts education taught in English by a strong faculty to an international student body amidst the intellectual riches of Paris. The oldest American institution of higher learning in Europe, AUP started as the American College in Paris and opened in the fall of 1962. It grew rapidly, attracting a student body from all over the world. Only 40% of the current student population is American. Of the rest, 15% is French and the remainder is made up of students from 80 different countries. AUP also prides itself on its small classes; the student:faculty ration is approximately 15:1.
Housing and meals are not included in this program. Students are responsible for finding their own accommodations in Paris. AUP has a special housing service designed to assist you in finding affordable, convenient and suitable accommodations. Some options include:
Rent and meals vary from approximately $3,000 to $5,000 per term. NU covers the cost for housing insurance (a requirement for all persons renting space in France). Please also note that accommodations and meals are provided by AUP to all students during the first orientation week in Paris.

"What I loved most about AUP was how passionate the faculty was and how much I learned in my classes. This was the best semester of my college career and I had an amazing time!"
