Located on the southeast coast of the Pacific Ocean, Sydney is truly an international hub and Australia's premier city. In the year 2000, this vibrant city hosted the Summer Olympic games. On a natural harbor, Sydney is a stunningly beautiful city. Although most people picture the Opera House as its defining image, there are many attractions and opportunities for exotic experiences. You may decide to take full advantage of its beaches, theaters, museums, art galleries, shopping concourses, restaurants, cafes, and pubs. Getting around Sydney is easy with the extensive public transportation system. There are also exciting adventures beyond the city limits. The mountain ranges and sandy white beaches provide great excursions from the city atmosphere.
Founded in 1850, the University of Sydney is Australia's oldest university. The University has over 22,000 undergraduate students and 100 teaching departments. There are approximately 1,500 international students from every continent with the majority coming from Pacific-rim nations. The University is only a 15 minute bus ride from the downtown center, and set among the terrace houses - many of them occupied by Sydney students.
