This program in Buenos Aires allows students with a fluency in Spanish to live and study in one of South America's largest cities. Students spend either the summer/fall or spring/summer terms at the Universidad del Salvador, located in the heart of the city. Classes are taught exclusively in Spanish and are offered from the university's regular course offerings. Students are also encouraged to take the Spanish Improvement Course which focuses on the problems that arise at higher levels of Spanish instruction. Prior to the beginning of the academic term, students will participate in a two-day orientation program.
Students have the option of taking a one month intensive language course before the semester begins. Students are responsible for all fees payable directly to the University for this language program.
Students may choose from Universidad del Salvador's entire catalog. Courses taken abroad may satisfy college and departmental core requirements. Students should consult with their advisor to discuss the specific requirements that may be satisfied abroad.
Argentina is the eighth largest nation in the world. It is made up of many contrasting geographical characteristics. The Northeast has lush vegetation and the Iguazu Falls. The Northwest is arid and very mountainous. South Argentina is very fertile and has many vineyards. Do not forget about the Andes mountain range that separates Chile and Argentina. Buenos Aires, the capital city, is located on the Rio de la Plata, the widest river in the world. It has a population of three million people, largely composed of European descendants. The city itself is very "European" in its style, with wide avenues, plazas, and cafes. It is also very cosmopolitan, and offers students many big city attractions such as theater, museums, restaurants, and an active night life.
The Universidad del Salvador is a private university founded by the Jesuits in Buenos Aires in 1956. Since then, it has grown to become the largest, private university in the city. The university offers more than 30 different degrees at the undergraduate and graduate levels. The school's main buildings are located in the city's center, offering easy access to a wide variety of cultural and commercial venues. In addition, there are other branches including Pilar. Located in the outskirts of the city, students may play a number of sports (free of charge) such as soccer, tennis, basketball, volleyball, rowing, and sailing.
Students choose to live with a host, in a student residence hall, or an apartment located in downtown Buenos Aires. Students will have access to all campus resources, including e-mail, campus activities, library facilities, and sports clubs. Finding housing is the students responsibility, using the housing resources provided by USAL.
Advanced Spanish language level, full-time Northeastern student, 3.0 GPA, and middler (third) year or above.

$19,400 per semester for the 2009/2010 academic year. Includes: tuition,round-trip airfare via Boston. Housing and meals are not included.
