Eligibility Requirements

Full-time Northeastern undergraduate student, middler year or above, and must meet the GPA requirement of the program. Transfer students must have completed two full semesters or one regular semester and two summer sessions at NU. Foreign language requirements apply to some programs.

Note: All students are considered on an individual basis.

Application Procedure

  1. Attend a mandatory information session. Sessions are listed on our home page. Applications are not handed out without first attending an information session and speaking with a study abroad Coordinator.
  2. Meet with other Advisors: Major Advisor, Dean's Office Advisor, Coop Advisor, Financial Aid, Disability Coordinator (if necessary). CBA students must meet with Danielle DiCoscia in the undergraduate business office to review course selections before going abroad.
  3. Get your application from a study abroad advisor during walk-in hours. Exceptions will be made for coop students. Each program has its own application forms and requirements. All programs require at least one academic letter of recommendation. Some may require a personal statement, passport size photos, medical exam, and/or an application fee. Refer to the program fact sheets for specific details.
  4. Submit a completed application to OISP by the appropriate deadline. We will not accept any incomplete applications.

Application Procedure for Faculty-Led Programs ONLY

  1. Attending a general faculty-led information session is recommended but not required
  2. Download application materials from OISP website
  3. Submit two copies of your application to OISP by the deadline
  4. For questions about application procedures contact an advisor in the OISP office. For specific questions about any faculty-led program please contact the appropriate faculty leader
