The Office of Institutional Diversity and Inclusion, in collaboration with admissions, the John D. O’Bryant African American Institute, and City & Community Affairs had the privilege of hosting high school students from the Gear Up program. Gear Up is a grant funded program that is designed to increase the number of low-income students who are prepared to enter and succeed in post secondary education. In addition, one of the benefits of participating in the program is the immersion experience of attending college campus tours. Our most recent participants hailed from Buffalo, New York. While on Northeastern’s Campus Gear Up students participated in an information session, met with university staff, and went on a student-led tour of campus.
