              Community Ambassador Program

              2009-2010 Community Ambassadors

                                         CA Group

Community Ambassadors are current NU Students who live off-campus and work with Off Campus Student Services as a point of contact to other off-campus students, providing a connection to campus events, resources, and neighborhood programs and services.

                                                              Fenway Neighborhood

Fenway is the neighborhood for those students who want an off-campus apartment with the convenience of an on-campus residence hall. The Fenway neighborhood directly surrounds Northeastern and is intertwined with many Northeastern buildings and residence halls. Because of the convenience of this neighborhood rent tends to be slightly higher. Fenway is home to two community ambassadors this year:

Dana Brown, Ashley Dickerson, and Timothy Love

Dana Brown is a Senior Music Industry Major who lives on St. Stephens Street.  Ashley Dickerson is a Senior Criminal Justice Major who lives on Westland Ave.  Timothy Love is also a Senior Criminal Justice Major who  lives on Westland.

                                                         Kenmore-Fens Neighborhood

Kenmore-Fens is the neighborhood adjacent to Kenmore square, Fenway Park and The Fens(a large park in the neighborhood). This neighborhood is a slightly further walk from campus than the Fenway neighborhood. It is a nice neighborhood filled with parks, restaurant and also offers nearby retail establishments. Though it is further from campus the convenience of restaurants and retail makes this a reasonably expensive neighborhood. Fenway is also home to two community ambassadors this year:

Lisa Babayan and Alesha Garvin

KenFen

Lisa Babayan is a Middler Biochemial Engineering Major who lives on Park Drive.  Alesha Garvin is a Middler Criminal Justice Major who lives in the Kenmore/Fens area.

                                                                      Mission Hill

Mission Hill is a good choice for a student looking for a slightly more economical apartment. Prices in Mission Hill tend to be slightly lower than Fenway or Kenmore-Fens as it is further away from the NU campus.  Mission Hill has an extremely high concentration of not only NU students but also students from other area campuses.  Mission Hill is about a 20 minute walk or a 5-7 minute train or bus ride from the NU Campus. The plaza at One Brigham Circle offers grocery and dining options for the Mission Hill Community. Because of geographic and population reasons Mission Hill has three community ambassadors this year:

Marissa Kapfhammer, Lyndsie Mannix, and Jillian McIntosh

MissionHillCA's

Matthew Desilet is a Middler Political Science Major who lives on Alleghany Street.  MArissa Kapfhamer is a Senior Physical Therapy Maor who lives on Eldora street.  Lyndsie Mannix is a Senior Biology Major who lives on Calumet Street.  Jillian McIntosh is a Senior Human Services Major who lives on St. Alphonsus street.

***Though not all neighborhoods in Boston have Community Ambassadors yet we welcome all off-campus NU students who are interested to become part of the CA program. If you would like to be updated on news and events being put on please contact us at offcampus@neu.edu and we will add you to our mailing list and also assign you to a neighborhood so you can be kept informed about events going on specifically in that area. We hope to expand the program in the future and always welcome feedback and suggestions for our programs and events.***
