Chris Frazier Becomes Northeastern’s 1st All-American
August 15, 2014
Chris Frazier, from Port Tobacco, MD, came to Northeastern on a Football scholarship as a athletically gifted Outside Linebacker. After the Football program was cut after his freshman season, Frazier sought other outlets to express himself athletically. In his sophomore year, encouraged by several friends, Frazier attended several rugby trainings and found himself making the roster for the USA Rugby D1 playoffs, despite never having played before. Over the course of the next 3 years, Frazier has gone on to captain the team in both 15’s and 7’s and earned All-Conference honors in both, as well. Frazier has also seen success playing for the Northeast Olympic Development Academy (ODA), as well as the New England Prime 7’s team.
On earning the honor, Frazier said: “I am very proud of becoming Northeastern’s first All American. It shows not only me, but also the younger guys on the team, that if you keep your head down and work as hard as you can, you have a shot at being noticed.” Despite not playing for a traditional powerhouse, Frazier has been able to get himself noticed, and in the meantime has elevated the standard at Northeastern too.
As for the future, “As of right now, I am just trying to become the best rugby player I can be to make a push into the Olympic Training Center Residency Program.”
We wish Frazier the best of luck in all his endeavors! Go Huskies!
