Free Tools – Some Examples

There are a host of free tools out there that you can use to support your teaching. For example, Prezi, Vimeo and Google Plus Hangouts. Many instructors use free tools in their courses, and NU Online likes to see innovative use of tools, however we aren’t able to support them technically.

Prezi

Prezi is a tool for creating presentations. It comes at presentations from a different angle in that it doesn’tPrezi Logo follow the rather strict linear format of Power Point. Prezi uses what’s called a Zooming User Interface (ZUI) which allows the presenter to zoom in and out of different parts of the presentation. If you’re looking for a different vehicle from Power Point for your presentations, give Prezi a look.

For most instructors, the free account will provide more than enough upload capacity. Once your video is uploaded, you can then embed it into your Blackboard course page.

Free Version- 500 MB weekly upload limit

Plus Version ($9.95/mo. or $59.95/year)- 5 GB weekly upload limit
