Orientation

Orientation is offered in three separate sessions to provide a comprehensive introduction and overview of The N.U.in Program, the location, and the Boston campus.

Every N.U.in student has a choice of two orientation dates. Each N.U.in student is required to register for one orientation program. Please note that each N.U.in location has two possible and compatible orientation programs from which to choose. In order to promote community, each orientation program has limited capacity and registration is first-come first-served. The first day of this program will include a Parent Program as well.

Part One: The N.U.in Program
As an incoming N.U.in participant, it is mandatory to attend one N.U.in Orientation at Northeastern University’s Boston campus:

  • June 17-18
  • June 25-26
  • July 8-9

The program is designed to increase familiarity with Northeastern, the N.U.in locations, and N.U.in participants and staff. The program will include workshops and sessions about culture shock, Northeastern and N.U.in policies, academic advising, goal setting, and team building.

Due to reasons related to US visa regulations, international participants will be unable to attend the N.U.in Orientation. N.U.in will provide international participants with all of the materials covered in the program to ensure they are well informed before departure. Please contact us at nuin@neu.edu with any questions.

Students will receive an email when registration for the N.U.in Orientation has opened.

Participants should register for the N.U.in Orientation through their myNEU Student Portal by May 20, 2011. The first day of this program will include a Parent Program as well.

Part Two: On-Site
The second session occurs on site at each location. This program is designed to introduce N.U.in participants to the partner institution, meet on-site staff, and to increase familiarity with the location. This session is mandatory at all locations.

Part Three: Transition to Boston Campus
All N.U.in participants take part in a mandatory on-campus transition program held on-campus in January, prior to the start of classes. During the program, you will meet more of your classmates and learn your way around campus and Boston. You’ll also prepare for the beginning of classes by meeting with an academic advisor, learning more about experiential learning, and expanding your knowledge of what makes Northeastern unique. You’ll finalize your registration, get your Northeastern ID card, and have fun. The program date will be available in your Admitted Student Portal in late summer.

N.U.in will provide international participants with important information covered in the program to ensure they are well informed before departure.
