Will I need a passport to travel to England?
All participants will need a passport. Those who do not already have a passport should apply for one as soon as possible. US Citizens can find more information at the US Department of State passport site. Passports must be valid for at least four months beyond their planned return from England. Passports that are due to expire before April 2010 must be renewed now.
Where will NUin participants be living while in England?
Participants will be living together in a secure and fully-furnished residence near FIE’s Foundation House in Kensington. Click here for more information.
What other activities will participants be able to do in England?
While studying at the Foundation for International Education, participants will have the opportunity to partake in various excursions as part of their coursework. Staff will also coordinate free and low-cost activities in London and surrounding environs. There is a semester break where they will be able to travel to different parts of the United Kingdom and Europe if they choose.Additionally, through the Global Experience course, students will be participating in civic engagement activities in order to enhance their understanding of the local people and culture.
Is there an orientation in England?
Upon arrival in England, there is an an on-site orientation, and classes will begin on August 17.
What is communication like in the residence halls?
Participants will have internet connections in their rooms and will have access to a PC computer lab (with internet) in their residence hall.
Will I need a visa to study in England?
For a visa, participants will be applying for Pre-Entry Clearance (PEC) through the British Consulate. Obtaining a PEC will cost around $210. More information on applying will be given to enrolled participants.
Do I need health insurance?
Participants will be covered for basic insurance through Endsleigh Insurance while in England.This covergage is included in the cost of the program. More information on enrolling in the Endsleigh policy will be given to enrolled participants.
