About Us

The Nanotechnology and Society Research Group (NSRG) is an interdisciplinary team of researchers focused on studying the societal dimensions of nanotechnology research, development, application, and commercialization. Our lead project, a National Science Foundation supported Nanotechnology Interdisciplinary Research Team (SES #0609078), assesses the capacity of government to balance the benefits of technological innovation with the protection of the environment and public health. NSRG researchers also work on an array of projects with the NSF Center for High-rate Nanomanufacturing (CHN), based in Northeastern’s College of Engineering, and with the Boston Museum of Science on related outreach and education activities.
