According to a report released Monday by the U.S. Department of Defense, China is alleged to be directly responsible for cyberattacks against the U.S.

The report, which evaluated China’s military capabilities, found that, “numerous computer systems around the world, including those owned by the U.S. government, continued to be targeted for intrusions, some of which appear to be attributable directly to the Chinese government and military. These intrusions were focused on exfiltrating information.”

The information could be valuable to China for defense and technology industries, U.S. policy makers in China and for military planning.
