Northeastern and General Electric will partner to offer a new accelerated bachelor’s degree in advanced manufacturing, a first-in-the-nation program. The partnership, announced Tuesday by the U.S. Department of Education, is part of an innovative higher education initiative and garnered significant national recognition.
Following the passage of a controversial new law last week in North Carolina—where Northeastern maintains a regional campus—President Aoun issued a statement in strong support of diversity and inclusion. The law prevents local communities in that state from passing ordinances that protect the rights of gay, lesbian, and transgender people. “At Northeastern University we believe diversity is a strength to be celebrated, not a source of division,” Aoun said.
