What would you name the new visitor center?

A new visitor center opening this summer will be the portal to the Northeastern experience. The state-of-the-art interactive facility in West Village F will connect the outside world to everything that’s amazing about the university.

So what should we call this innovative new center? You could be the mastermind behind the name we ultimately choose for the new space.

Post your suggestions in the comments section below and the top submission will win a $100 Northeastern bookstore gift card and will be among the finalists for consideration.

  1. Paws Interactive Hub
    Paws Interactive Center
    King Husky Hub

  2. Grace says:May 14, 2012 at 8:03 pm As a science major, please call it the NUcleus. (Like a play on the Hub… get it?)

    I second this suggestion!!!!!

  3. 1.) neX, (Northeastern Experience)
2.) GIV at NE, (global innovation village at NE)

    OR combined

  4. The Freeland Welcome Center, after former university president Richard M. Freeland.

  5. Centennial Center, as a tribute to the 100 years in co-op and neighbor to Centennial Commons.

Chelsea Hub (Chelsea is a neighbor hood in NYC that borders West Village)

  6. The Husky Lair // Lair of the Huskies
    (and fun-to-say acronym: LOH)

The Husky Den // Den of the Huskies
    (and fun-to-say acronym: DOH)

  7. How about “The Freeland Center,” named after the president who brought Northeastern into the top 100

  8. Freeland Welcome and Visitors Center, after the president of the university that made Northeastern the university that it is.

  9. My personal recommendation: “The Lighthouse”

For a prospective student, searching for colleges can be a daunting journey like sailing a ship in rough waters. Finding The Lighthouse is a sign of comfort, a symbol that draws you in and lets you know calmer seas are near. During the arduous tasks of completing high school and performing admirably on standardized tests, The Lighthouse is there to give you direction and guide you on your journey. Additionally, the brightly, LED-lit nature of the new visitor center within an existing residence hall complements its designation as “The Lighthouse” at Northeastern.

  10. Northeastern inNUvation Center
    InNUvation Station
    Student Experience Center

  11. My only suggestion is PLEASE nothing with “Husky,” “Paws” etc. I like the Freeland suggestion.

  12. Global Transformation Center at Northeastern
    Experiential Exploration Center
    Discover your Future Center
    Discover Northeastern Center
    Center for Northeastern Exploration

  13. The Dr. Joseph Warren Community Center, after the late Joe Warren, a professor in the Dept of African-American Studies; Government Relations director; Dukakis’s economic advisor; urban assistant to President Ryder; leader in the creation of the Southwest Corridor; minority education advocate; veteran; civil rights organizer; historian; among many many other superlatives. His life and works reflected the multicultural NU advantage, and a welcome center would embody his lifetime commitment to engaging all community members. http://www.northeastern.edu/president/messages-writings/2010/033010.html

  15. The Husky NURVE
    (Northeastern University’s Recommended Visitor Experience)

  16. Following are my suggestions:-Hello Huskies !!

  17. 1. Northeastern University Preparation And Welcome Space (NU-PAWS)… or
