Pres­i­dent Obama advanced a pro­posal last month to help stim­u­late the U.S. economy and put more Amer­i­cans back to work. The bill, known as the Amer­ican Jobs Act, would pro­vide approx­i­mately $450 bil­lion in tax cuts to workers and local busi­nesses, grants to expand employ­ment for teens and young adults, and tax credits to employers for hiring long-​​term unem­ployed workers and vet­erans. To date, no other pro­posal has been offered to address the needs of the Amer­ican worker.
