Jim Yong Kim, pres­i­dent of the World Bank, is sched­uled to deliver North­eastern University’s 111th com­mence­ment address on May 3, the school’s pres­i­dent announced this week.

Kim, the former Dart­mouth Col­lege pres­i­dent and a public health leader, will also receive an hon­orary degree during the morning cer­e­mony at TD Garden in front of an expected crowd of about 20,000 under­grad­uate stu­dents, family mem­bers, friends and uni­ver­sity leaders, offi­cials said.

North­eastern pres­i­dent Joseph E. Aoun announced the plans for Kim to be the com­mence­ment speaker via Twitter Tuesday night.
