The accomplishments of 25 women in the Charlotte region were celebrated Tuesday as they received the Charlotte Business Journal’s 18th annual Women in Business Achievement Awards. And Jane McIntyre, executive director of United Way of Central Carolinas Inc., was honored with the program’s Lifetime Achievement Award.

McIntyre has led the local United Way organization since 2009, when she took the helm following a scandal over compensation for the previous top executive. McIntyre was recognized for her work in leading the organization out of that crisis as well as her past leadership at the YWCA Central Carolinas and other accomplishments.

The award recipients were selected for their achievements in business and their impact on the community. They were chosen from numerous nominations submitted by senior managers, colleagues, friends and employees.
