Gun store owners and man­u­fac­turers didn’t like the impli­ca­tions when in 1995, Glenn L. Pierce of North­eastern Uni­ver­sity, using Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explo­sives (ATF) data, found that only one per­cent of gun dealers were respon­sible for the sale of the majority of the guns seized at crime scenes, 57 per­cent. They said that selling traced guns is not proof of wrong doing, according to the Post.
