Halfway through the state’s $1 bil­lion exper­i­ment with investing in the state’s life-​​sciences industry, a report due out next week will examine the effec­tive­ness of a 2008 law in attracting invest­ment and cre­ating jobs.

Gov. Deval Patrick, who signed the 10-​​year law in 2008, is sched­uled to be on hand Tuesday for the Boston Foundation’s release of a report by researchers Barry Blue­stone and Alan Clayton Matthews of North­eastern University.

While it passed over­whelm­ingly, the few critics of the 2008 law argued the state was favoring one industry at the expense of others.
