Northeastern University will more than double the number of degree programs it offers in Charlotte.

The Boston university’s satellite campus will expand its curriculum here to 15 master’s degrees and add its first two doctoral programs.

Classes for those programs will start this fall, says Cheryl Richards, chief executive officer and regional dean.

That’s up from eight master’s degrees the campus offered in spring 2012 — its first semester of operation.

Northeastern opened the 14,000-square-foot campus at 101 Independence Center tower uptown in fall 2011.

It’s been a remarkable growth and progress in just a short time,” Richards says.
