You would think that there would be a sense of col­lec­tive com­mu­nity and sort of a con­cept of team­work that works throughout a team,” said Lebowitz. “In some ways, it’s so awful and egre­gious, and in other ways, it’s sort of a way in which, I think, if you look over the his­tory of time, of bul­lying of hazing, of all these things, there are these ini­ti­a­tion rights of pas­sage that have been some­what perverse.”
