The excite­ment is building for next week’s U.S. Senate debate as incum­bent Scott Brown and chal­lenger Eliz­a­beth Warren inten­sify their battle before the high-​​stakes clash.

After making little news in their first debate, the two can­di­dates will be looking to score when they step up to the Tsongas Center stage for the tele­vised event spon­sored by the Uni­ver­sity of Mass­a­chu­setts Lowell and the Herald.

In round two, the knives are going to be sharper on both sides,” said Alan Schroeder, a North­eastern Uni­ver­sity pro­fessor who spe­cial­izes in debates.
