According to the Green­Metric Ranking of World Uni­ver­si­ties, North­eastern Uni­ver­sity as the greenest uni­ver­sity in America in 2011, and the second greenest in the world that year, behind the Uni­ver­sity of Not­tingham in the UK. Two build­ings, Dockser Hall and Inter­na­tional Vil­lage, have earned LEED Gold cer­ti­fi­ca­tion. The University’s dining ser­vices also takes green mea­sures, such as com­posting waste.
