In the after­math of last Friday morning’s mas­sacre at an Aurora Col­orado cinema, every­body wants to know how we might pre­vent the occur­rence of future mass killings in public places. The fact that the mur­derer chose to get revenge in a crowded the­ater makes mem­bers of the public feel very inse­cure. After all, indi­vid­uals go to the movies to be enter­tained or enlight­ened, not to be gunned down in cold blood.
