The Boston Busi­ness Journal last week announced the hon­orees for its annual Cham­pions in Health Care pro­gram fea­turing 13 pro­fes­sionals and orga­ni­za­tions at the leading edge of the region’s world-​​class health care system.

Dr. Manuel Guillermo Herrera-​​Acena, a physi­cian who has been at Brigham and Women’s Hos­pital for 55 years, has been named the Life­time Achieve­ment winner for this year’s Cham­pions class. Herrera-​​Acena, who emi­grated from Guatemala and grad­u­ated with a med­ical degree from Har­vard Uni­ver­sity in 1957, has ded­i­cated his life to making it easier for Latinos to get access to quality med­ical care in Boston and around the world.

He and the other dozen hon­orees will be fea­tured in a spe­cial sec­tion in the Aug. 16 edi­tion of the BBJ.

Innovator/​research:

• Omid Farokhzad, director of lab­o­ra­tory of nanomed­i­cine and bio­ma­te­rials; Brigham and Women’s Hos­pital; and asso­ciate pro­fessor of anes­thesia, Har­vard Med­ical School

• John Lam­bert, exec­u­tive VP & chief sci­en­tific officer; and Ravi Chari,dis­tin­guished research fellow in chem­istry, ImmunoGen

• Dr. Jonathan L. Tilly, co-​​founder, Ova­Science; chairman and pro­fessor, depart­ment of biology, North­eastern University
