Pros­e­cu­tors yes­terday laid out in extra­or­di­nary detail the events leading up to the murder of Odin Lloyd in North Attle­bor­ough last week, charging former Patriots tight end Aaron Her­nandez with the hor­rible crime.

But the story gets even more dra­matic. Reports today sug­gest that police are inves­ti­gating Her­nandez in con­nec­tion with a double murder last July, when two men were shot to death in their car after a fight at a night­club. Lloyd’s knowl­edge of Hernandez’s involve­ment may have been a motive for his murder, reports suggest.

What does all this mean for the Patriots, a team that has prided itself on being a dif­ferent type of NFL fran­chise — one that doesn’t tol­erate mis­cre­ants on the roster?
