The first “mas­sive open online course” devoted to phil­an­thropy, launched last month with sup­port from Warren Buf­fett and his sister, Doris, has drawn some 10,000 stu­dents, reports the Los Angeles Times.

Par­tic­i­pants in the free six-​​week course will hear video lec­tures by the Buf­fetts and other promi­nent phil­an­thropists and will give away more than $100,000 pro­vided by Ms. Buffett’s Learning by Giving Foundation.

I would have been happy if we got 1,000 stu­dents,” said Rebecca Riccio, founding pro­gram director of North­eastern University’s Students4Giving pro­gram, who is coor­di­nating the class. She said stu­dents from 70 coun­tries and across the United States have enrolled.
