Northeastern’s coolest co-​​ops

Northeastern students engage in co-op opportunities in some pretty cool places, doing some pretty cool things. Each year, students submit videos that illustrate why they think their co-op is the best—or the “coolest.” Check out this year’s winning videos, which highlight some powerful examples of our students’ exciting co-ops all around the globe.

Northeastern students engage in co-op opportunities in some pretty cool places, doing some pretty cool things. Each year, students submit videos that illustrate why they think their co-op is the bestor the “coolest.” Check out this year’s winning videos, which highlight some powerful examples of our students’ exciting co-ops all around the globe.

1st place

Elena Crouch, S’19

Crouch is an environmental studies and international affairs major. Her co-op in Costa Rica was at the nonprofit Kids Saving the Rainforest, where she worked as an administrative and animal care intern.

2nd Place

John Syzonenko, S’19

A physics major, Syzonenko worked as an assistant environmental educator at Change is Simple, a nonprofit that creates hands-on science and environmental lessons for classrooms across Boston’s North Shore.

3rd Place (Tie)

Gwendolyn Schanker, AMD’18

On her co-op at Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution, Schanker, a journalism and biology double major, worked in the communications department writing news stories about the science happening at one of the world’s most renowned science facilities.

3rd Place (Tie)

Sage Whipple, DMSB’18

Whipple, who is a business major with a concentration in entrepreneurship, spent her co-op at FunkyJunk Recycled, a social enterprise that collects bags from the streets in Cambodia and turns them into products such as cushions and baskets.
