November 21, 2013 - Kim Lewis, University Distinguished Professor of Biology, and post-doctoral researcher Brian Conlon work in Lewis' lab. Together, Lewis and Conlon developed a novel approach to destroying methicillin resistant staphylococcus aureus, or MRSA, a cause of deadly and often chronic infections. The new treatment approach uses a secondary drug, ADEP, to "reactivate" dormant MRSA cells that were not eliminated by conventional antibiotics and cause them to self-destruct....Photo by Brooks Canaday
