North­eastern Uni­ver­sity pres­i­dent Joseph Aoun has appointed Steven Kadish for the newly cre­ated posi­tion of Senior Vice Pres­i­dent and Chief Oper­ating Officer. A highly expe­ri­enced admin­is­trator and leader in man­aging and trans­forming com­plex orga­ni­za­tions, Kadish will lead a broad port­folio of oper­a­tional and busi­ness responsibilities.

As a member of the senior lead­er­ship team, Steve will help with strategic plan­ning and inno­va­tion ini­tia­tives across a range of crit­ical uni­ver­sity func­tions,” Pres­i­dent Aoun wrote in an email com­mu­niqué to North­eastern fac­ulty and staff. “Steve brings tremen­dous expe­ri­ence to this new oppor­tu­nity … please join me in wel­coming him to Northeastern.”

Kadish will directly oversee the existing depart­ments of Facil­i­ties, Human Resources Man­age­ment and Busi­ness Ser­vices. He will also share man­age­ment of Infor­ma­tion Ser­vices with the Provost. Kadish will also manage an office of real estate plan­ning and devel­op­ment, and inte­grate the crit­ical func­tions of public safety, risk man­age­ment and envi­ron­mental health and safety.

Kadish comes to North­eastern from Dart­mouth Col­lege, where he has served as Exec­u­tive Vice Pres­i­dent & Chief Finan­cial Officer. Prior to this appoint­ment, he was Director of Global Health Equity at Brigham & Women’s Hos­pital and the Under­sec­re­tary of the state’s Exec­u­tive Office of Health and Human Ser­vices. He has also held senior posi­tions at Har­vard Pil­grim Health Care and the Uni­ver­sity of Mass­a­chu­setts Med­ical School.

He earned his under­grad­uate degree from Tufts Uni­ver­sity, where he majored in polit­ical sci­ence and French. He also holds a master’s degree in city plan­ning from MIT. He has been active in many civic and com­mu­nity orga­ni­za­tions, with par­tic­ular emphasis on health and related issues.

Kadish will join North­eastern in the early fall.
