What: Rev­erend Dr. Zan Wesley Holmes, pastor emer­itus of St. Luke Com­mu­nity United Methodist Church in Dallas, TX, will give the keynote address at North­eastern University’s annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Con­vo­ca­tion, with wel­coming remarks from North­eastern Pres­i­dent Joseph E. Aoun.

When: Wednesday, Jan­uary 9, 2008, begin­ning at 11:45 a.m.

Where: The Con­vo­ca­tion will be held at the Blackman Audi­to­rium, Ell Hall First Floor Lobby, 360 Hunt­ington Avenue, Boston.

All atten­dees are invited to a recep­tion and Q & A ses­sion with Rev­erend Dr. Holmes fol­lowing the con­vo­ca­tion at 1:25 p.m. at the John D. O’Bryant African Amer­ican Insti­tute, 40 Leon Street, Boston.

Event Details: North­eastern University’s annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Con­vo­ca­tion com­mem­o­rates the legacy of Dr. King, Jr., par­tic­u­larly his com­mit­ment and con­tri­bu­tion to the struggle for social jus­tice and human rights in the United States and worldwide.

North­eastern is hon­ored to host Rev­erend Dr. Holmes as the keynote speaker on this day or remem­brance for Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Dr. Holmes is known for not only his com­mu­nity activism, but for his preaching and teaching. He models the impor­tant ideals that his great pre­de­cessor Dr. King put forth in his everyday life, and his words and actions are a reminder of the vital role that each indi­vidual plays in achieving social jus­tice for all.
