Northeastern, Wharton School team up for emerging markets conference

Forty distinguished scholars from as far as Brazil, Thailand, and France attended an international research conference at Northeastern on "Emerging Multinationals from Emerging Markets." The conference was a collaboration of College of Business Administration (CBA) Professor Ravi Ramamurti and Wharton School of Business Professor Jitendra Singh. The conference addressed how indigenous firms in emerging economies have become more competitive with Western firms in many global industries. Professors Ramamurti and Singh are compiling the resulting papers into a book for publication by a leading university press.

The conference was the ideal kick-off event for the University’s new Center for Emerging Markets, a world-class center for research and scholarship on Emerging Markets. "I can’t think of a better way to launch our new Emerging Markets Center," said Professor Ramamurti, who was joined at the conference by more than a dozen Northeastern faculty from CBA, the College of Arts and Sciences, and the Law School.
