Architecture professor curates "Re-Thinking City Hall"

Assistant professor of architecture Chris Grimley, founder of Pink Comma Gallery, curated a selection of proposals to redesign Boston's City Hall Plaza. Five design teams were invited by Elizabeth Padjen, editor of Architecture Boston, to submit proposals for reimagining Boston City Hall instead of discarding the existing structure and relocating the city's seat of government elsewhere (as proposed by Boston Mayor Tom Menino). The resulting proposals rethink the building, the plaza around it, and even the entire district.

Grimley, along with fellow curator Mark Pasnik, displayed the results as the inaugural exhibition of Pink Comma Gallery, an independent curatorial space for the design professions in Boston. In addition to his curatorial work and teaching, Grimley is responsible for the digital communications program at Northeastern, and oversaw the digital relaunch of the new School of Architecture Web site.
