Northeastern, Hebrew College set partnership

Northeastern has struck an alliance with Hebrew College of Newton for what promises to be one of the most expansive partnerships between a private university and a Jewish college. While each institution remains independent, the extensive collaboration will include the sharing of resources and expertise, joint faculty appointments, the ability of students to take classes at each campus, an expanded and extensive combined Department of Jewish Studies, shared library resources of more than a million volumes, and joint under graduate and graduate degrees and programs.

Hebrew College is a leader in Jewish education and offers a wide range of programs, including a rabbinical school, a cantor-educator program and master's degrees in Jewish studies and Jewish education. David Gordis, president of Hebrew College, is enthusiastic about the partnership, stating that he looks forward to "creating joint initiatives that provide students…with the academic experience they will need to become leaders on both the local and global scales."

Northeastern’s partnerships with other educational institutions create a rich learning community for our students and faculty. One such collaboration is the National Consortium of Interpreter Education Centers. Northeastern is one of six regional centers nationwide dedicated to increasing the number of qualified and credentialed American Sign Language interpreters.
