The Morris K. Udall & Stewart L. Udall Scholarship: The Morris K. Udall & Stewart L. Udall Scholarship and Excellence in National Environmental Policy Foundation awards 80 merit-based scholarships of up to $5,000 and 50 Honorable Mentions of $350 each year for students who have demonstrated outstanding potential for and a commitment to pursuing careers related to the environment. Applicants must be at least sophomores and not seniors, should possess at least a 3.0 QPA, and must earn the endorsement of Northeastern University.
The application consists of:
  • An institutional nomination form;
  • An 11-question application form;
  • An 800-word essay on a speech, legislative act, book, or public policy statement by either Morris K. Udall or Stewart L. Udall and its impact on the applicant’s interests and goals;
  • A current official college transcript and transcripts for other colleges attended;
  • Three letters of recommendation.
The internal application deadline for this award is February 4, 2013. Interested parties can find more information on the fellowship web site and fill out the preliminary fellowship questionnaire.

 

Summer Internship Opportunities at NCEH and ATSDR: The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s National Center for Environmental Health and the Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry (NCEH/ATSDR) offer paid 10-week summer internship programs for students who are passionate about the environment, interested in human health, and curious about how they are linked. During the course of the internship, students are introduced to environmental health at the federal level through collaborative projects, experiential learning opportunities, environmental health presentations, journal clubs, field trips, brown bag lunches, and mentoring relationships at NCEH/ATSDR.  Interns will be based at NCEH/ATSDR’s Chamblee, GA Campus.
