Research

As my Ph.D. thesis, I study the magnetic properties of Fe-doped titania nanotubes, under supervision of Professors Laura H. Lewis (Dept. of Chem E.) and Latika Menon (Dept. of Physics). Modification of the titania nanotubes with magnetic transition metals is anticipated to provide the opportunity of creating a novel multifunctional nanostructured material with simultaneous magnetic and semiconducting properties for potential applications in spintronic devices. In addition, the photocatalytic activity of titania enhances in presence of iron ions. In this project it is of interest to find the morphology-structure-functionality correlations of Fe-doped titania nanotubes as a function of dopant concentration and processing methods.
