2013 Career Forum a Great Success!
On Friday, March 15th, 2013 students from Northeastern University’s School of Public Policy & Urban Affairs hosted the 2nd Annual Career Forum. In collaboration with CitySMARTS, the graduate student-led organization affiliated with the Policy School, students were joined with over 30 sector leaders in various fields of public policy to leverage their professional networks.

A survey that the Spring 2013 Capstone students helped developed last year was implemented by the Community Alliance, a group of concerned East Boston residents, over the summer. The data was entered and analyzed and a report of the results was released at a press conference on February 25th.

This semester the students worked with Street-Works and the City of Quincy on a plan for the redevelopment of the Quincy Center MBTA Station, which lies at the heart of the New Quincy Center redevelopment project. The New Quincy Center project will inject $1.6 billion dollars of office, commercial and residential space and infrastructure into Quincy’s historic downtown. Divided into three project teams the students presented their proposals for the redevelopment plans to their professors and peers on December 13th.

Each year, two students from either the Urban & Regional Policy (MURP) or MS in Law and Public Policy (LPP) programs can participate in a one-semester exchange program with the Universiteit van Amsterdam. Exchange students will be enrolled in the Urban Studies Research Master's program. This is an academic, research-oriented program that will be complementary to our professionally-focused MURP and LPP programs.
