REPRESENTATION THEORY AND RELATED TOPICS SEMINAR
FOR STUDENTS OF ALL AGES
ABSTRACT: Solving polynomial
equations has been one of the central themes of
mathematics for several millennia. In this talk, I will
discuss several constructions, arising from geometry
and topology (and of course, algebra and group theory),
that help us understand the nature of the solutions to
such equations and uncover a deeper meaning of this
classical subject.
