REPRESENTATION THEORY AND RELATED TOPICS SEMINAR
ABSTRACT: In this talk we
will discuss the notions of regular and Barr-exact
category, recalling in particular their relation to
abelian categories and their central place in the
categorical characterization of the (quasi)varieties of
Universal Algebra. Furthermore, we will take a look at the
construction of the exact completion of a regular category
and mention some of its applications. Time permitting, we
will also talk about recent research regarding regularity
and exactness for categories enriched in posets.
