  Crystalline Differential Operators in Characteristic p

ABSTRACT: In this introductory talk, I will define the ring of crystalline differential operators in positive characteristic and other positive characteristic nomenclature.  I will discuss the Azumaya algebra property of this ring, and the relationship of D-modules to coherent sheaves.  I'll finish by describing some work of Bezrukavnikov, Mirkovic, and Rumynin relating differential operators to representations of Lie algebras over finite fields.
