Abelian Categories with Almost
Split Sequences and Semiperfect Coalgebras
ABSTRACT:
A description of hereditary
abelian categories with right almost split sequences is an important
part of the classification of noetherian hereditary abelian categories
with Serre duality given by Reiten and Van den Bergh. We
characterize abelian categories of arbitrary homological dimension with
left almost split sequences as certain categories of comodules over
right semiperfect coalgebras. The work is joint with Reiten.
