ABSTRACT: We discuss some equations relating multiplication and comultiplication: a) the Maurer - Cartan equation (MC), b) the equation defining a multiplicative element (ME), introduced by the speaker, (c) the general equation (GE), also introduced by the speaker, and its particular case, the Yang - Baxter equation. The solutions of those equations will be interpreted as nonlinear 1- and 2-cocycles. If time permits, we shall also discuss a connection between multiplicative elements and completely integrable Hamiltonian systems.
