The centerpiece of the MSC Outreach Program is the rocky shore field experience. Scientists have been studying the rocky shore at Nahant for over 150 years, and this two to three hour student experience introduces students to both marine life and how scientists conduct field study in this pristine coastal setting.
Northeastern’s Marine Science Center Outreach Program staff are available to deliver in-class programs in neighboring school districts.
The Coastal Ocean Science Academy (COSA) is a two-week marine science summer day program for high school students.
Beach Sisters is a collaborative program between the Marine Science Center’s Outreach Program and Girls Inc. of Lynn.
The collaborative “From School to Sea: Linking Middle Schoolers in Lynn to the Ocean Next Door” program between the MSC Outreach Program and Lynn Public Schools allows 6th graders to become familiar with marine and environmental science through field-based inquiry and exploration.
