Sarah Phenix
Laboratory Manager
As the Laboratory Manager at the MSC, Sarah is responsible for ensuring that environmental health and safety standards are met and maintained, managing facility improvements and use by both NU and non-NU individuals, and ensuring that teaching labs are functioning to the best of their ability. Sarah received a BA degree in Psychobiology from Wheaton College in Norton, MA. As a graduate student at the University of Edinburgh, where she received an MSc in Biological Oceanography, her research examined the impacts of plankton distribution and sea temperatures on basking shark seasonal surfacing behavior. After finishing this degree, she worked in the biotech industry managing a laboratory researching transkingdom RNAi-based therapeutics. She then migrated to Northeastern University to manage the Marine Science facility, and assume to a more administrative role within the realm of marine biology.
