Standard Mail Nonprofit Rate

The USPS offers savings to high-volume nonprofit mailers in the from of Third Class Bulk Nonprofit rates. When planned in advance, the Third Class Bulk Nonprofit rate can be a cost-effective way to reach large audiences.

To qualify, the mailing must meet the following requirements:

• Items mailed must be identical in every way except destination address.
• There is a minimum of 200 pieces.
• Address must be complete including the ZIP code.
• Items must weigh 16 ounces or less.
• All destinations must be domestic (this includes Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands and Guam).
• Third Class Bulk mailings will be delivered to the post office, bundled and sacked in accordance with USPS regulations.

Paying for Mailings

Postage for mailings may be paid by meter or indicia. Contact Bulk Mail Services to determine if a proposed mail piece qualifies for the use of the indicia and, if so, the proper format for it.

Things to Consider

• Delivery Time - Delivery takes longer than First Class mail. Local delivery can be five to seven days, 10 to 14 days nationally.
• Planning for Events - Because of delivery time planning is crucial.  If your event is less than six weeks away you will need to send your mailing First Class mail to ensure ample reply time.  Longer than six weeks standard mail will save money and still leave you ample reply time.
• Processing Time - Standard Mail takes longer for Mail Services and the USPS to prepare and process. Please call Mail Services at extension 2114 for assistance in determining your processing time.
