John McCarthy, formerly a principal with Harvard
University’s Hauser Center for Nonprofit Organizations and
a lecturer at the Kennedy School of Government since October 2005,
is Northeastern’s new senior vice president for administration
and finance.
Prior to working at Harvard, McCarthy spent
thirty-seven years as an accountant with PricewaterhouseCoopers,
where he worked with some forty leading U.S. universities, including
Northeastern.
In his new role, McCarthy will oversee finance,
facilities, information systems, public safety, and human resources.
He will also facilitate the university’s institutional audit,
compliance, and risk management program, and will help develop and
