High marks awarded to PhD scholarship

An independent evaluation of doctoral-program scholarly productivity has recognized the university’s professors in several disciplines for their outstanding scholarship.

According to the most recent Faculty Scholarly Productivity Index, Northeastern ranked high among large U.S. research universities in three areas. The university placed sixth in scholarship in pharmaceutical sciences and medicinal chemistry, and eighth in counseling education/counseling and guidance. It also placed fourteenth in humanities.

The ranking evaluates faculty book and journal publications, citations, awards, honors, and grants received at nearly 7,300 doctoral programs around the country. The most recent index is based on data from 2005.
