Christine F. (Keegan) McClafferty, Ed’80, of Manchester Center, Vermont, writes, “I have changed my name to Christine Grace Frances. I’m living in Vermont and have three daughters. William H. Mitchell, PA’80, of Hanover, New Hampshire, is the chief financial officer at Audible, an online provider of spoken audio entertainment, information, and educational programming that’s based in Wayne, New Jersey. Formerly, he was the CFO of Viewpoint Corporation.

Paul S. Tormey, BA’80, is the general manager and regional vice president at the Fairmont Copley Plaza, in Boston. He also oversees operations for Fairmont properties in Bermuda; the Fairmont, Washington, D.C.; and the reopened Plaza in New York City. Tormey, who grew up in Newton, Massachusetts, has held a number of positions with the Sheraton Hotels and with Fairmont, most recently as general manager at the Fairmont Chateau Whistler, in British Columbia.

Marc Futterweit, BA’81, lives in Wayne, New Jersey, with his wife, Jill, and their two daughters. He is senior partner and founder of the Law Offices of Marc A. Futterweit, which has locations in Dover and Hawthorne. Steve Linder, BA’81, of Key West, Florida, has been named the U.S. sales director for lots and custom homes at Pacific Lots of Costa Rica. The firm, which has been developing lots and building retirement, rental, and second homes for expatriates for eighteen years, is the largest developer in Costa Rica’s southern Pacific region. Linder manages the firm’s U.S. sales force and trade-show representation.

James P. Reidy, MPA’81, of Concord, New Hamp­shire, is a shareholder in the law firm of Sheehan Phinney Bass & Green, in Manchester. He was named one of the best lawyers in America by Woodward/ White. Reidy practices labor, employment, and employment-immigration law.

Christopher Wolfe, BA’81, of Derry, New Hampshire, sends greetings to his brothers at GPK and his classmates.

Christopher Lahoda, BA’82, of Lawrence­ville, New Jersey, died at home on December 9, 2006, from amyo­trophic lateral sclerosis, also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease. The founder of GrowthQuest Manage­ment Training, in Princeton, Lahoda was also active in his community, including serving on the board of the Lawrence Historical Society. His historical novel, Burning Answers, was published last year by Xlibris Press. He is survived by his wife, Janet Hubbard, and daughters Alice and Helen. Michael Mandracchia, MS’82, of Jackson, New Jersey, writes, “I have been elected to a three-year term on the board of directors of the Academy of Certified Hazardous Materials Managers (ACHMM). My term began on January 1. At the ACHMM annual national conference in September, I received my fifth consecutive Champion of Excellence Award.”

Jan Miller, UC’82, of Norfolk, Massa­chusetts, has served as the CEO of Wainwright Bank and Trust for nine years. Previously, he worked for twenty years at Shawmut Bank in a variety of positions. He and his wife, Carol, have been married for thirty-two years and have two children.

Patricia (Campbell) Taylor, BHD’82, of West Palm Beach, Florida, writes, “My husband, David, and I will have been married twenty-five years this August. Boy, time sure flies. I am currently teaching at a private preschool in Florida’s voluntary pre-kindergarten program. My elder child, Emily, is a sophomore at Florida Atlantic University, in Boca Raton, studying music education. My son, Matthew, is a senior at Cardinal Newman High School and will graduate in May. We would love to hear from any North­eastern band or choral members from 1976 to 1982. David played the saxophone, and I played assorted percussion in the concert, marching, and pep bands. Peter C. Alexander, L’83, of Carbondale, Illinois, is the dean of the Southern Illinois University School of Law.

Jim Madden, AS’83, of Cumming, Georgia, is the vice president of American sales at VoiceObjects, a phone-application server company based in San Mateo, California. He was previously the senior vice president of worldwide sales, services, and business development at Five9.

Yvonne G. Pesce, AS’83, of West Springfield, Massachusetts, married Martin W. Flynn Jr., on June 30, 2006, in Feeding Hills. The couple divides their time between western Massachu­setts and Vermont. Yvonne, a 2000 graduate of Western New England College School of Law, is an assistant district attorney in Hampden County. Martin, a University of Delaware graduate, is a nuclear design engineer at Entergy, formerly Vermont Yankee, in Vernon, Vermont.

Suzanne Slavitter, BA’83, of Lakewood, California, is the vice president and co-owner of Sports Empire, a sports and special-events tour company, and president of the Empire Consulting Group. She will chair the 2009 National Tour Association annual convention, scheduled for mid-November in Reno, Nevada.

John Zicko, E’83, of Franklin, Massachusetts, has been promoted to manager, substation design engineering, at NSTAR Electric & Gas, in Westwood. He was previously a principal engineer.

Ian Dent, BA’84, of South Hamilton, Massachusetts, is a vice president of business development at Reef Point Systems, in Burlington. He was formerly a management consultant for technology suppliers to McDonald’s and Salesforce. Prior to that, he was the director of business development for INVISIX in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.

John Economou, E’84, of Lee, Massachusetts, is the founder and chief executive officer of LuJohns Enterprises, a live/online Internet-auction technology site with affiliates in twenty-four states, England, Ireland, and Germany. Economou and his wife, Luisa, conduct antiques, real-estate, commercial, and benefit auctions with their company, LuJohns Auctioneers. He is a past three-term president and current chair of the board of directors of the Massachusetts State Auctioneers Association and a member of the technology committee of the National Auctioneers Association.

William Fallon, MS’84, of Princeton Junction, New Jersey, is vice president of manufacturing and operations at Halozyme Therapeutics, which develops and commercializes recombinant human enzymes for the infertility, ophthalmology, and oncology markets. Formerly, he was president and chief executive officer at Cytovance Biologics.

David Julian, BA’84, of Charlotte, North Carolina, is the chief operating officer of the finance division at Wachovia. Previously, he was the company’s corporate controller and principal accounting officer. Julian has been with Wachovia since 1997. Prior to that, he was senior vice president of finance for the Forum Corporation, in Boston.

Janis Lippman, BA’84, of Roslindale, Massachusetts, writes that, after many years of working in the entertainment business (her last position was serving as the director of operations at Clear Channel Entertainment), she has combined her experience and skills into a “dual career”: real estate sales, and project management for residential real-estate developers. “On the real estate side, I am a licensed sales associate and work at Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage in Jamaica Plain with my life partner of twenty-three years, Ellen Grubert. And on the project management side, I work for New Boston Ventures,” she reports. Lippman is also active in community service. She is the board president of the Massachusetts Breast Cancer Coalition, a founding member of the Silent Spring Institute, a participant in the Boston–New York AIDS Ride, and a supporter of the Human Rights Campaign, Community Servings, GLAD, and Coldwell Banker Cares. Anthony O’Dea, E’85, is the corporate safety director at Gilbane Building, in Providence, Rhode Island. O’Dea has been with Gilbane since 2005. Previously, he was corporate safety manager at ADP Marshall. He and his wife, Kim, and their three children live in East Taunton, Massachusetts.

Joseph Cunningham, AS’86, writes, “You meet alumni in the strangest places. While conducting due diligence on a factory I was considering purchasing in Tuman City, Jilin Prov­ince, in the People’s Republic of China (near the North Korea border), I discovered the gentleman across the table from me was also a Northeastern graduate: William Lee, MS’89. As our world gets smaller, our network grows larger. After more than a decade of living overseas, my wife, Shaila; our children, Rigney and Griffin; and I are back in the good old U-S-of-A, residing in Minneapolis. I am the cofounder and CFO of Gamma Pharmaceuticals.”

Walter Megura, BA’86, of Plano, Texas, is the senior vice president of Americas sales at Intervoice, in Dallas. He was formerly vice president and general manager for global broadband and IPTV business at Nortel.

Winslow Sargeant, E’86, of Middleton, Wisconsin, was one of several founders of a company called Aahetcom, a computer- chip design company whose products allowed the faster transmission of information over the Internet. That was in 1997. Three years later, the company was sold to PMC–Sierra for almost $900 million. Sargeant, who has a master’s degree from Iowa State University and a doctorate from the University of Wisconsin in Madison, currently works for Venture Investors in Madison. He and his wife, Ikanyeng, have three children.

Peter Sotiropoulos, GB’86, of Manteno, Illinois, has moved from New York City and a position at Audionics after seventeen years. He’s now the president and sole owner of the Hearing Rehabilitation Center in Kankakee and Steger. Sotiropoulos is a board-certified audiologist who specializes in hearing and vestibular diagnostics, hearing aids, and FM technology.

Majed Al-Ghafry, E’87, has been named the new public-works director for North Las Vegas, Nevada. Most recently, he was the public-works director and city engineer for Lemon Grove, California, a position he assumed in January 2004. He has eighteen years of civil-engineering experience.

Suresh Iyer, UC’87, formerly of Jackson­ville, Florida, is the vice president of trade at Foundation Energy Sales, in Linthicum Heights, Maryland. He has held administrative and management positions at Dayton Power and Light Company, PG&E National Energy Group, and New England Power Com­pany.

John Jeffire, MA’87, of Clinton Township, Michigan, has written his first novel, Motown Burning (Trafford, 2006), about a young wrestler whose life is shaped by the 1967 Detroit riots and the Viet­­nam war.

Jeffrey T. Klayman, CS’87, of Mansfield, Massachusetts, is a partner in the Boston law firm Brom­berg and Sunstein.

Jeff O’Heir, AS’88, of Hunting­ton, New York, is the editor in chief of North American Publishing Company’s Dealerscope magazine. Previously, he was editor of CMP Media’s Digital Connect magazine, which won the American Society of Business Publica­tions Editors’ Gold Award for Best New Business Publication in 2005 and American Business Media’s 2006 Jesse H. Michael S. V. Turner, E’88, ME’92, of Needham, Massachusetts, has authored a book entitled Microsoft Solutions Framework Essentials: Building Successful Technology Solutions, which describes and explains the Microsoft Solutions Framework, embedded in Microsoft’s Visual Studio 2005 Team System product line. In 1998, Turner earned a DSc in computer science at George Washing­ton University. He is currently a solutions architect at Microsoft and has also founded a software-solutions company called North Star Analytics.

Tim Van Metter, AS’88, of Los Angeles, is the record producer of a benefit CD entitled The Voices and Faces Project, Volume One, featuring songs by such indie artists as Neko Case, Jesse Sykes, and Sally Timms, among others. All proceeds help support the Voices and Faces Project, a Chicago-based nonprofit that gives voice and face to the survivors of sexual violence. George Crombie, MPA’89, formerly of Plymouth, Massachusetts, has been named Vermont’s new secretary of the Agency of Natural Resources. He took office in January. Crombie, a longtime public works, planning, and natural-resources manager, previously served as public works director for the town of Plymouth. From 1985 to 1992, he was public works director in Burlington, Vermont, where, among other responsibilities, he managed a $52 million pollution-abatement program for Lake Champlain. From 1992 to 1999, Crombie was a member of Massachu­setts governor William Weld’s administration, first as regional director of the Department of Environmental Protection and then as undersecretary of environmental affairs. He became director of public works for Nashua, New Hampshire, in 1999, and began his work in Plymouth in 2004. He is married with three grown children and six grandchildren.

Leandro Difilippo, CJ’89, is a student at the Massachusetts School of Law, in Andover.

William Dimmig, AS’89, of Buffalo, is the senior director of operations at Autistic Services, a western New York nonprofit organization serving individuals with autism. In addition, he is a cofounder of Bridges for New Beginnings, which helps Eastern and Central European countries close large state-run institutions for children and find homes for children from those institutions. Lawrence McCormick, MBA’89, of Belmont, Massachusetts, is an associate justice in the Boston Municipal Court. Previously, he had been general counsel to the Massachusetts Department of Agricultural Resources since 1997.
