Take a Bow!

Four assistant professors in the College of Engineering have been honored with prestigious Faculty Early Career Development Awards from the National
Science Foundation.

Three teach in the electrical and computer engineering department:

Edwin Marengo is studying wave-based systems, signals, and processing in compressive sensing and signal subspace methods.

Nian Sun is researching magnetoelectric composite films and their applications in integrated RF and microwave magnetoelectric devices.

And Mehdi Baradaran Tahoori is looking at techniques to provide defect and fault tolerance in nanotechnology.

The fourth honoree, Rebecca Carrier, works in the chemical engineering department. She is studying fundamental transport phenomena in drug delivery and the influence of biomimetic biomaterial topography on cell phenotype.

These awards support the early career development of faculty who most effectively integrate research and education.

Computer science professor Mitchell Wand was named a 2007 Association for Computing Machinery Fellow for his contributions to type theory and program analysis. The ACM Fellows Program honors association members for achievements in computer science and information technology.
