Targeted donation provides others with chance for success
Michele and Henry Nasella
Crediting Northeastern with jump-starting his successful career, university trustee Henry Nasella, UC’77, and his wife, Michele, have pledged $5 million to support student financial aid.
The gift will create the Nasella Family Endowment Fund.
“My education really created a wonderful opportunity for me, for my future success, and for my family,” Nasella says.
His family chose to target financial aid, Nasella says, because “it’s very much in need for the kind of student Northeastern attracts—often people who don’t come from a wealthy family.”
Earlier in his career, Nasella built the office-supplies giant Staples into a billion-dollar company. He is currently a partner in the New York private-equity firm LNK Partners.
Giving young people the tools for success, he says, is “among the most important gifts you can provide.”
President Aoun says of Nasella, “His personal story is one our students should know and emulate, and his gift, focused as it is on making Northeastern even more accessible to all students, is a remarkable example of generosity and leadership.”
